in the fall i fell

by

Jonathan Campbell

in love
and life
one thing
applies

pressure
on the heart

means
pressure on
the mind

is fragile
caterpillar silk
fallen leaves

are brittle
broken and
on the ground

amongst
the worms
the weevils
the dew

has fallen
once more
of a thousand
times
a million

years of
life
and love

is hard

to avoid
love is
to avoid
life

is
love
and
being

loved
