X & Y

X, the hourglass,
starving, the knot
in his stomach
sucking in
and in.
Soon, he will
be a spiral,
a maelstrom
of emptiness.

Y, the wine glass,
sober and
gasping,
knows if she
could ever drink,
she would spill
into flatness,
with no bottom
to keep her up.

The crippled
couple
holds hands,
feeling through
vacant fingertips,
pretending

 

 

 

 


Lindsay D’Andrea, 18 years old and a senior in high school, is working her way into the world of publishing. In the summer of 2006 she attended the New Jersey Governor's School for Creative Writing under the direction of Mr. Richard Weems.She has previously been published in Chantarelle's Notebook (where she was the “featured poet” of October 2006)and Re Dactions. Recently, one of her poems (“Peter Pan”) was nominated for “Best of the Net 2006.” Lindsay plans to study Writing, Literature and Publishing at Emerson College in the fall of 2007.
