In Memoriam

Miriam N. Kotzin

It grows late: it grows late.
The corners of the night are empty
as the small polished bowl
I once held out to you.
Our silence settles like snow
over the city.
Your breath finds its way
through my hair.
My body lies smooth and still
and bored beneath your workshop hands.
