I am going to
mail you an artichoke,
Raw, naked, no envelope, nothing--
Just your address etched into the spiky leaves.
And if the zip code sloughs off in transit,
It will arrive sodden in stinking decay,
Choking,
gangrenous mulch,
With its bitter heart exposed.
After graduating
Vassar in 2001, where I studied with Michael Joyce, I've worked with
Kathleen Ossip at the New School and Katy Lederer and Geoffrey Nutter at Gotham Writers Workshop. I've
been published in the New York Daily News and was a reviewer at
the Newark Star-Ledger. I am currently working as a personal
trainer in New York, pondering
my next career move, and enjoying the wealth of inspiration and
education the city has to offer a poet.
