In an Old Home

by

Michael Levy

He lets out a hiss
from the corner of his mouth
it sounds like air
escaping from a blocked radiator
this is something he does on
regular intervals
eighty-seven years on earth
has taken its toll
now locked safely away from family
in an old peoples home
he reads all the negative news
then suddenly he
hisses himself from earthly erroneousness
traveling far away
to a better place
soon the hissing will stop forever
