Leftover

Irresponsible, and Man-n-er-less
to leave your soil infertile
to rob the g-race of your
people in the tune-less turn
of time. Think deep for this
waste that you create
is as irrelevant as the
throngs of pleas you make.

Jumoke Verissimo writes from Lagos, Nigeria.  She has published poems online in Argotist and farafina and in anthologies such as Confluence, Ashes and Diamonds.  Presently she is working on an experimental novel with a fellow writer, Ayo Arigbabu, in Nigeria.
